JUNE NIGHT OF THE STORYTELLER

On Thursday 11th June TailSpin presents another pulse-quickening, funny-bone-tickling, imagination-prickling evening of stories and live music.

THE RISING COST OF CABBAGE
with Alys Torrance

From a lighthouse runs a chain to dry land. From a forest tower runs a plaited rope to freedom. But people are more eager to climb in than out. What treasure lies inside that mustn't see the light of day? Bad parenting and fresh fruit and veg in a tale told everywhere sailors come ashore.

Alys is a writer, storyteller and actor. She’s most often found doing comedy, clowning, and improvising, appearing on, and writing for, the stage, TV, and the radio. She tells stories in clubs, schools, at festivals and in theatres. She also runs Story Jam, a monthly storytelling night. Sometimes she is serious.

“a brilliant storyteller” - snipelondon.com
“full of the kind of one liners and silly gaffes that epitomises British humour… avoids clichés with the kind of dazzling nous you’d need to write 1,000 words on Christmas without using the word “yule.” - Evening Standard

"...Top marks for experimentation with bicycle pumps...” - Three Weeks

Plus music from the wonderful MISS MAUD’S FOLLY, all the way from Bristol. From raucous, breakneck-paced gypsy tunes to delicate Spanish lullabies, velvety jazz numbers to lolloping honky-tonk saloon music – Miss Maud’s Folly will be sure to delight and excite.

Plus short stories from James Canvin and Giles Abbott.
